Human Leukocyte Antigens and Vesicoureteral Reflux in Greek Children

Abstract

Human leukocyte antigens (HLAs) were determined in 43 Greek children suffering from vesicoureteral reflux. Children carrying HLA AW 19 + 29 were found to have a higher risk of developing the disease. It is suggested that the HLA system may play a role in the pathogenesis of vesicoureteral reflux.
