Abstract
Following intravenous injection of ethanol in 20 fasted dogs, blood alcohol was determined at 90 minute intervals for 6 hours. Ethanol disappearance was calculated by use of a special formula. Specimens of liver were removed for determination of alcohol oxidizing capacity and catalase activity. Correlation coefficients between these values and the ethanol disappearance were 0.866 and 0.602, respectively. A method for the determination of ethanol oxidizing capacity is given. Keywords
