Abstract
This paper reviews research into the variables influencing the time taken to design and build construction projects. It examines various aspects of the organisation and management of the building team and the building process and looks at case study results comparing performance of various organisational forms. It concludes that success, in particular shorter project time, is achievable and that this is due to a combination of variables rather than the product of any one system. Keywords
