Galvanomagnetic effects in Gd-Co sputtered films

Abstract
The transverse Hall effect (THE) and the transverse magnetoresistance effect (TME) are measured simultaneously in Gd‐Co sputtered films which have the uniaxial magnetic anisotropy perpendicular to the film plane. The results show that the THE loop is related to the magnetization curve, and that the Hall output voltage, VH, is proportional to the total area of reversed magnetic domains in the sample. It is also found that the fractional change of resistance, ΔR/R, depends on the number of magnetic domain walls with which the control current interacts. The magnitude of ΔR/R is of the order of 10−4 or less.
