Present-day Neurophysiological Models of Mind-body Interaction

Abstract
New neurophysiological tools such as computers and averagers allow studies of reactions of the brain to various kinds of symbolic stimuli. So far only very simple models of meaningful situations have been developed. However it can be shown that the slow potential changes they induce differ, in psychosomatic patients, from normal controls and from psychotic patients. It is hoped that more complex symbolic stimuli will still give more rewarding results and that these new aspects of neurophysiology will help to put to a test various psychosomatic theories and hypotheses.
