Abstract
The chief carotenoids in the yellow fat of some sheep in New Zealand were identified, by absorption spectra behaviour on thin layer c:hromatography and colour reactions with Hel, as lutein and flavoxanthin. A third xanthophyll was probably auroxanthin. Small amounts of β-carotene and flavochrome were present. The 5:6 epoxides of carotene and lutein were not detected. Keywords
