Nonorthogonal Quantum States Maximize Classical Information Capacity

Abstract
I demonstrate that, rather unexpectedly, there exist noisy quantum channels for which the optimal classical information transmission rate is achieved only by signaling alphabets consisting of nonorthogonal quantum states.Keywords
