Abstract
A new series representation of the free energy is given for a symmetrically charged system of hard spheres of equal diameter (the restricted primitive model). The representation has two versions, one of which exhibits the detailed structure of the coefficients appearing in the other and suggests systematic ways of approximating those coefficients. The terms that appear to be the dominant ones are quantitatively evaluated and closed‐form approximations are developed for them. Keywords
