Abstract
Preview Acute febrile illness is a common problem in primary care. Localized complaints and physical findings often suggest a cause and guide selection of diagnostic studies. Occasionally, however, a patient will have persistent, unexplained fever for more than 2 weeks, despite thorough evaluation by history, physical examination, and routine testing. The authors describe a patient with such a fever in whom hospitalization and an extensive search were necessary to find the true cause, brucellosis. Keywords
