Abstract
Cortisone administered to a 66-year-old female with complete heart block and ecg evidence of both ventricular standstill and ventricular tachycardia, caused a change to second degree A-V block, with reversal and death occurring on cessation of cortisone therapy. Autopsy revealed evidence of probable old rheumatic heart disease, as well as a nodule of bone marrow in the region of the auriculo-ventricular node. Keywords
