Abstract
A research agenda in respect of leisure and the home requires a historical perspective and the setting of a socio-cultural context. To illustrate this, a review is made of changing relationships in 20th century Britain; in particular, the physical attributes of the housing stock are set against the context of demographic, social and cultural change. After a reminder of the pattern of leisure activities in the home today, future trends are considered, again by relating possible changes in home-based leisure to very different social and technological futures.
