Abstract
THE recent report Public Health in England rec ommends that an annual health report should once again be a statutory requirement of Directors of Pub lic Health Medicine, at district and regional level1. The production of such reports cannot in itself improve the public health; the report must be used to stimulate local action. We describe here the pro duction of a health profile for the city of Coventry and its use in a broad-based health promotion approach for achieving 'Health for Coventry by the Year 2000'2.Keywords
