Risk in Acquiring Toxoplasma Antibodies

Abstract
Toxoplasmadye-test antibodies were acquired by three of 189 members of a population of 37 "normal" families during a four-year period. The three members were aged 2, 3, and 17 years, respectively. Initially, 5% of those <20 years had such antibodies in contrast with 38% of those ≥20 years of age. Antibodies were equally frequent in males and females. The three infections occurred during 7,176 susceptible person-months, or one per 2,392 person-months of overall observation and one per 1,831 person-months for those <20 years.
