Abstract
Blackwell J. (1978) Disaggregation of the household sector in regional input-output analysis: some models specifying previous residence of worker, Reg. Studies 12, 367–377. This paper examines two regional input-output models suggested by Miernyk and Tiebout, which sub-divide the household sector by specifying previous residence of worker. Though different in scope, they are shown to be short and long run facets of the same approach, which can also be used to specify previous employment status. Empirical evidence from the Greater Cork Area Input-Output Study is introduced, showing that a Miernyk-type short-run model is implementable and provides more realistic impact estimates than formulations with a constant II/I multiplier ratio—though an unexpected pattern of household expenditure sometimes leads to surprising results.
