Abstract

Precision measurements of the viscosity (

η

) of liquid

{}^{4}{He}

at the saturated vapor pressure over the range

2.0 \times 10^{- 6} ≲ | ε | ≲ 5.5 \times 10^{- 3}

(

ε = \frac{T}{T_{λ}} - 1

) have revealed a singularity of the form

\frac{η}{η_{λ}} - 1 = - A^{'} {(- ε)}^{0.65 \pm 0.03}

below

T_{λ}

and

\frac{η}{η_{λ}} - 1 = A ε^{0.80 \pm 0.05}

above

T_{λ}
