Activity of a Juvenile Hormone Analogue on a Parasitoid, Apanteles rubecula, Via Its Host, Pieris rapae1235

Abstract
No apparent effects on the parasitoid Apanteles rubecula Marshall were observed after completion of its development in larvae of the imported cabbageworm, Pieris rapae (L.), treated with a juvenile hormone analogue. Emergence, longevity, and sex ratio of A. rubecula were not affected. A topical dose of 3 ng/larva (0.9 µg/g-larva) resulted in 73% of P. rapae larvae surviving to the pupal stage. About 50% of the pupal survivors of the 3 ng/larva treatment were malformed.
