Abstract

A new dibenzocyclooctadiene lignan named gomisin D, was isolated from the petroleum ether extract of the fruits of Schizandra chinensis (Schizandraceae) and its structure was elucidated on the basis of chemical and spectral evidence. The absolute structure of gomisin D was determined by X-ray analysis of its 4,11-dibromo-derivative.
