X-Ray Production by Alpha-Particle Impact

Abstract
Recent observations of characteristic x rays produced by higher-energy (30-80 MeV) particles are compared to previous measurements and to theoretical calculations based on the impulse approximation. These data are found to be in agreement with theory. The effects of choice of fluorescence yield are discussed.
