Abstract
The vector analyzing power has been measured for the reaction at seven incident pion energies between 112 and 325 MeV, using a vector polarized deuteron target. The results cover an average of 12 angles per incident pion energy. A comparison with existing theoretical calculations is made. The value of these data with respect to ongoing phase shift analyses of the reaction is discussed.
