Determination of residues of fenthion and its oxidative metabolites in olive oil

Abstract
A method is described for the determination of residues of fenthion and its oxidative metabolites in olive oil. After extraction, the residues are oxidised with potassium permanganate to fenthion sulphone and fenthion oxon sulphone and determined by gas-liquid chromatography using nitrogen-phosphorus detection. The method is both simple and sensitive.
