Abstract
Lipoprotein membrane systems such as chloroplasts and the endoplasmic reticulum exhibit a generalized swelling response. The initial effect is an increase in interlamellar spacing, but as swelling proceeds, the membranes are transformed into closed thin-walled spherical vesicles.Keywords
