Abstract
Photographs of early cleavage of the hen''s eggs were unsatisfactory because of the indistinctness of the furrows and lack of contrast with the remainder of the blastodisc. The following procedure was found to obviate this difficulty Remove all albumin adhering to the blastodisc; fix the entire yolk containing the blastodisc in Bouin''s fixative 24-48 hrs.; place yolk in 60% alcohol and remove vitelline membrane; remove blastodisc and place in well slide; stain upper surface with 2-3 drops of 5% gentian violet in 95% alc; destain in 60% alc. By this method stain will remain only in the cleavage furrows. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
