Abstract
The degenerate and nondegenerate nonlinear Kerr coefficients of disordered media composed of submicrometer dioxide titania particles embedded in a dye solution were measured using an interferometric technique. The influence of the scattering particles on the value of are discussed in the light of stimulated emission in these systems. The results obtained can be useful for applications in nonlinear ultrashort pulse propagation in disordered media.
