CLINDAMYCIN AND SULPHONAMIDES IN THE TREATMENT OF OCULAR TEXOPLASMOSIS

Abstract
Eight patients with active toxoplasmic retinochoroiditis were treated with clindamycin and a triple sulphonamide combination for a period of up to 6 weeks. In addition systemic prednisone was administered when the optic nerve or the macula was involved (6 of the 8 cases). In all cases we observed clinical improvement within 2 weeks. Visual acuity improved in all cases. Side effects of the treatment were observed in 2 cases. The follow‐up period ranged from 8 to 22 months.Keywords
