Abstract
Measurements of the optical emission of the high luminosity theta‐pinch discharge are reported for seven gases over the interval 0.2 to 0.7 μ. The irradiance is typically 0.4 J/100 Å at 450‐J input energy. The efficiency is typically 5% to 10%. The optical pulse duration is approximately 5 μsec. The dependence of the optical output power on bottle material, coupling parameters and input power is discussed. This publication has 12 references indexed in Scilit:
