A TECHNIQUE FOR THE IN VITRO PROPAGATION OF AFRICAN VIOLETS USING PETIOLES

Abstract
Normal African violet plants were produced directly from petiole cross sections without an intermediate callus phase in a Murashige and Skoog high salt medium containing 0.5 mg/l naphthaleneacetic acid and 0.5 mg/l kinetin. It was not necessary to induce roots as rootless plantlets quickly became established in a commercial soil mix.
