One Hundred Cases of Acute Intoxication with Mianserin Hydrochloride

Abstract
One hundred consecutive cases of intoxication with mianserin hydrochloride referred to the London Centre of the National Poisons Information Service were followed-up. When mianserin was the only drug ingested, symptoms were mild and neither deep coma nor convusions were reported. More serious symptoms including two deaths occurred following multiple drug overdose. Patients with high plasma mianserin concentrations had few serious symptoms. The results suggest that following an acute overdose, mianserin hydrochloride is less toxic than tricyclic antidepressants. Es wird eine Übersicht über 100 Vergiftungen mit Mianserinhydrochlorid gegeben, die dem Londoner Zentrum des Nationalen Vergiftungsinformationsdienstes gemeldet wurden. Wenn kein anderes Pharmakon außer Mianserin eingenommen worden war, zeigten sich nur milde Symptome, weder tiefes Koma noch Krämpfe wurden berichtet. Schwerwiegendere Symptome einschließlich zwei Todesfälle kamen im Anschluß an Überdosen von Medikamenten-Kombinationen vor. Patienten mit hohen Mianserin-Plasma-Konzentrationen hatten nur wenig gravierende Symptome. Aus den Ergebnissen kann gefolgert werden, daß eine akute Überdosierung mit Mianserin weniger toxisch ist als eine solche mit trizyklischen Antidepressiva.
