Abstract
Formation mechanisms for extrinsic-intrinsic node pairs and fault pairs are presented. Extrinsic faulting can arise from the intersection of dislocations whose long-range force is either attractive or repulsive. Micrographs support the proposed mechanisms, and it appears likely that the extrinsic faulting arises directly, during the intersection, or subsequently, as the result of further forces applied to an intrinsically faulted configuration. Keywords
