Abstract
Multilevel hierarchical systems are commonplace in engineering design applications. “Optimal” design of multilevel systems is important and leads to cost effective designs. In this paper, a general overview of multilevel systems is presented. A step by step outline for optimal design of such systems and the sensitivity analysis of the resulting designs are presented. A simple example that illustrates the procedure is also included. Keywords
