Abstract
The individual and average bond ionicities of LiAlO2, LiGaO2, LiInS2, LiInSe2 and LiInTe2 are evaluated from spectroscopic data. It is found that in these compounds the LiCVI bond is essentially ionic in nature. It is shown that the structural properties of the compounds can be understood in terms of the average bond parameters.
