Laser diode frequency stabilisation to Doppler-free rubidium spectra

Abstract
Doppler-free saturated features at both Rb D-lines have been observed in third-derivative form using a simple laser diode. These are suitable for stabilising the laser frequency. The letter reports, for the first time, locking of a diode frequency to third-derivative Doppler-free features at 795 nm. The day-to-day reproducibility was ∼400 kHz.
