The Use of Diphenylamine to Protect Plants against Ozone Injury1

Abstract
Foliar application of diphenylamine as a spray or dust on apple and as a dust on bean, muskmelon, petunia and tobacco plants afforded highly significant protection against visible injury when the plants were exposed to ozone in a modified growth chamber. Concentrations of diphenylamine of about 1% as a dust and 500-1000 ppm as a spray were effective.
