Abstract
K X-ray emission cross sections have been measured to an uncertainty of +or-6% for 1 to 3 MeV deuterons incident on thin layers of selected elements with atomic number (Z2) from 22 to 32. The experimental technique is outlined and the results compared with the predictions of modifications to the plane-wave Born approximation (PWBA) and the semiclassical approximation (SCA). Agreement is better with the PWBA, corrected for 'binding energy' and 'Coulomb' effects, with the theory underestimating the data by only 12% on the average. This deviation exhibits negligible projectile energy or Z2 dependence. Keywords
