Abstract
Colony counts were made by inoculating bottles containing liquid agar at 48[degree]C, and then rotating the bottles on a chuck until the agar had solidified. Temp. of incubation and the variety of bile salts affected the growth significantly. Immersion in water increases the inhibitory effect. Such immersed cells could be "resuscitated" by preliminary incubation in a nutrient medium. Such treatment is used in a technic for colony counts of B. coli in polluted waters. Keywords
