Unification of the Basic Particle Forces at a Mass Scale of Order

Abstract
By considering a semisimple group [e.g., SU] subject to discrete symmetries which ensure one coupling constant in the unification limit, we show that the unification mass scale need be no higher than . The possible emergence of a light octet of axial color gluons is noted.
