Abstract
We presented previously the results of our investigations on the output of estrogen in the urine of a group of normal women, as compared with that of a group of women of the same age with acne. From this study we were able to show that the women with acne excreted considerably less estrogen than did the normal women. As acne is even more frequent in men, it was obviously necessary to project our studies further by the determination of the output of androgen for a group of men with acne, as compared with that of a group of normal men of the same age. Furthermore, as the gonadal activity of persons of each sex is expressed by the excretion of both androgen and estrogen in measurable amounts, we decided to broaden our study to include simultaneous determinations of the urinary excretion of both substances in each case.
