Nonverbal primacy in veracity judgments

Abstract
This study investigated the impact of verbal, nonverbal, and normative influence cues on veracity judgments. Two models of cue processing were presented. A nonverbal primacy model posited that persons rely primarily on nonverbal cues to judge veracity. A normative influence model predicted a normative information by cue congruence interaction. The data were consistent with the nonverbal primacy model and inconsistent with the normative influence model.
