AS medicine develops, and its progress affords new diagnostic and therapeutic technics, it is fascinating to see the emergence of pathologic entities that have always been present but have not been fully appreciated for want of effective therapy. An excellent example of this is the traumatic aneurysm of the thoracic aorta. Resectional surgery of the aorta is a development of the last decade.
