A theoretical evaluation of the pollution potential of sheep dip preparations

Abstract
Calculations are presented to show the theoretical possible pollution by insecticides and phenolic compounds that could occur in a river into which a tank of sheep‐dip is emptied. The implicatons of the effect that abstracting such river water might have in three different water treatment works are discussed. The possible pollution of a river near to which sheep are dipped is also considered. The conclusion is that care should be taken with the use and disposal of sheep‐dip preparations near to rivers, particularly those used for potable purposes.
