Abstract
Differences in total chromosome lengths between two karyotypically divergent groups of Peromyscus maniculatus are taken as evidence for an addition-deletion mechanism of chromosomal variation in the species. The differences may be due in part to variation in the amount of constitutive heterochromatin present in the two karyotypes. Keywords
