Social Rehabilitation of Addicts: A Two-Year Evaluation

Abstract
The relationship between treatment approaches with heroin addicts (human) and sociodemographic characteristics of the communities affected was noted. While poor and middle class communities showed good results with methadone maintenance approaches, in the area of secondary drug abuse they showed marked dissimilarities. The reasons for discharge were markedly different. The different attitudes existing at the 2 clinics studied provided contrasting environments that were selectively detrimental to program dropouts.
