Abstract
This paper analyses the procedures and processes of state cabinet in Queensland. It also examines the advisory mechanisms supporting the cabinet structure, as well as apparent understandings surrounding the concept and practice of cabinet government in Queensland, in the particular context of the Bjelke‐Petersen premiership. The major features of contemporary cabinet government in Queensland are identified, and are considered in terms of the political style and behaviour of Joh Bjelke‐Petersen.
