Abstract
As an aid in the laboratory diagnosis of T. tonsurans ringworm, the following are described in detail: (1) the important features of tissues invaded by T. tonsurans, (2) methods for the isolation of the fungus agent, and (3) the gross and microscopic characteristics of the fungus culture which are important in its identification. In the case of atypical culutres or for confirmation of the morphological identification, a nutritional test is suggested which is based on the fact that all strains show a partial requirement for thiamine.
