Abstract
An unusual case of pulmonary infection with Allescheria boydii is reported. The fungus occupied a benign bronchogenic cyst and produced intermittent hemoptysis for a period of 9 yr. Excision was performed after cytologic studies of sputum showed changes thought to be diagnostic of carcinoma, but in retrospect the cytologic changes were probably due to the chronic Allescheria infection.
