Abstract
We investigate recently proposed measures for the statistical dependence of systems with complex dynamical behavior. We consider appropriate model systems, to ensure that influences of individual properties of the systems are excluded. We demonstrate that it is indeed possible to obtain nontrivial directional information, but we also argue that the interpretation of this information is difficult. Keywords
