Long lasting vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers

Abstract

Some long lasting vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) are reported. The 2700h of operation indicates ∼5%/10kh degradation rate predicting mean time to failure of ∼10⁵h. These are the longest lasting VCSELs reported to date.
