Measurements of the temperature dependence of the fine structure splitting of the NMR spectra of solid hydrogen having ortho concentrations less than 50 % indicate that the lifting of the rotational degeneracy observed at low temperatures cannot be attributed to a dominant temperature independent anisotropic crystalline field interactionKeywords
