Abstract
Vibronic coupling and lifetime measurements on the S1 luminescence centre of diamond are reported and analysed, and indicate the presence of a nearly localised mode and the existence of a nonradiative state close to the emitting states. This trap becomes populated above 25 K; a simplified model that accounts for the data is presented. Keywords
