Abstract
✓ Fresh dural preparations and dried occipital bones from 200 adult cadavers were examined to define the characteristics of the occipital sinus. The occipital sinus was found to be present in 64.5% cases. Different morphological types are classified into the following: median occipital sinus (35%), double occipital sinus (22.5%), left occipital sinus (4%), and right occipital sinus (3%). Communications with the confluence, superior sagittal, straight, transverse, and sigmoid sinuses are described. The normal findings and some notable anomalies are discussed in the light of the available literature. Keywords
