Abstract
Detailed analysis of profiles of the calcium 422.7 nm resonance line obtained by laser-induced fluorescence show departures from the usual reduced Voigt form. These discrepancies are shown to be consistent with a fit of the profiles to a Voigt profile with corrected velocity averaging together with an asymmetric component due to the radiation emitted during the collision. An expression for the complete profile in the low pressure limit is given. Keywords
